Sidney Cooperative Nursery School is hiring for a Pre-K Lead Teacher and Administrator for our 2023-2024 school year! Opened in 1970, our school is a parent cooperative in which parents work closely with our staff to ensure that their children receive care and education of the highest quality. Our curriculum is based on Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards with the importance of play emphasized. There is a small community feel to our school, the children and families are amazing! Our school and these positions come with a lot of smiles and laughter!
Pre-K Lead Teacher
Pre-K Lead Teacher General Responsibilities:

Arrive at the school on-time and stay until contracted time or until duties are completed

Arrival at 8:30AM

Departure for Monday/Thursday 12PM

Departure for Tuesday 3:30PM

Create and implement curriculum for Pre-K classroom following Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards including:
-
Opportunities for quiet and active play
-
Activities to promote physical, social-emotional, cognitive and language development
-
Opportunities for child-initiated activities such as imaginative play, language development, and creative activities
-
Providing outdoor play in suitable weather
-
Indoor gross motor play when outdoor play is not provided
-

Prepare the classroom for the day and assist with clean up the classroom at the end of the day
-
Prepare an age-appropriate classroom behavior management system with assistant teacher following Chapter 5104 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 5101:2-12 of the Administrative Code

Discuss lessons of the day/reflect on the day with your assistant teacher
-
Work with the assistant to prepare lessons
-
Guide the assistant through preparing lessons

Discuss a general plan for the day with the participating parent as they arrive in the morning. Prepare them to lead a group of students during small group activities
-
Prepare assessments and assess students in a timely manner using curriculum outlined in Appendix B
-
Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled during spring break but parents may ask about their child’s progress at any time and you should be prepared to discuss with them
-

Keep accurate records of student progress

Keep attendance records for students, this must be kept on file at the school for 1 year
-
Use appropriate and professional language with students, staff, and families
-
Be present and available as much as possible at the beginning and end of the day to meet with parents/guardians. Building relationships with the families is very important for our school setting.

Conduct drills that are needed for licensing requirements:

Fire Drills- Monthly

Weather Drills- Monthly (March through September only)

Lockdown Drills- Quarterly

Follow all center/school rules outlined in Chapter 5104 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 5101:2-12 of the Administrative Code

Attend and participate in all staff and parent board meetings (Each usually 1x/month)
-
Participation is required for our semi-annual toy cleaning, parent meetings such as orientation, open houses, meet the teacher, etc.
Education and Experience Requirements:
-
Must be 18 years of age and have completed a high school education or be enrolled in the second year of or have completed a two-year career/technical program in child development or early childhood education or be a high school senior and also enrolled in a college credit program in child development or early childhood education

Child Care Center Staff Orientation- must be completed within 30 days of hire unless already completed training after 12/31/2016 and on file within Ohio Professional Registry (OPR)

First Aid and CPR- must be completed within 90 days of hire unless certification is already completed and up to date within OPR
-
Communicable Diseases- must be completed upon hire unless certification is already completed and up to date within OPR

Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Prevention- must be completed within 60 days of hire unless certification is already completed and up to date within OPR
Background check with FBI/BCI fingerprinting required upon hire and must be deemed eligible for employment by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). A completed medical statement and documentation of current immunizations following ODJFS guidelines must be furnished upon hire.

Starting Pay: $11/Hour
Hours Per Pay Period:
35 Hrs bi-weekly September-May
8 Hrs monthly with ramp up to school year June-August
Paid Time Off: 15.5 Hrs after 60 days of employment
Holiday Pay: 5 Hrs each for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day and Easter
Bonuses: Position is eligible for all employee bonuses. Winter Bonus in December and Fiscal Year End Bonus in June are dependent on the financial success of the fiscal year. Bonuses are not guaranteed but all efforts will be made to secure financial wellbeing of the organization.
Administrator
Administrator General Responsibilities:

Wednesday 8:45AM-12:15PM in Preschool Classroom

Thursday 9AM-12PM independent work

Hours can be flexible and determined with School Board President to meet the needs of the school

On Tuesday and Wednesday during the school year work alongside lead and assistant teachers in each class. This is a great opportunity to build relationships with each set of teachers, students and parents. Duties are not limited to but include assisting in large and small group activities, helping serve and clean up after snack, light classroom cleaning such as sweeping, changing trash, wiping tables, etc., addressing any parent or student concerns real time such as calling parents regarding sick children or behavioral concerns.

Keep inventory of general school and cleaning supplies that are used at the school such as glue, copy paper, paper towels, etc. and order/purchase items as needed. Upon purchase, submit receipt to treasurer for bookkeeping.

Serve as a point of contact for staff and parents for questions and concerns with another party. This could be concerns regarding another student, staff member or board member. Consult with both parties individually regarding the issue and work to resolve the matter. Consult with the board President as needed for additional assistance.

Complete staff evaluations yearly using pre-determined evaluation form. Provide feedback to staff regarding evaluations and any concerns, questions or feedback

Communicate with staff and families about school closings and delays using Remind. Policy on closings and delays is located within the school handbook
-
Send out weekly email update to families regarding upcoming school week including activities each class will be completing, the participating parent schedule, Try it! activities and any other need to know information

Create participating parent schedule for Fall and Spring semesters
-
Schedule school/class picture days at the beginning of the school year
-
Conduct monthly staff meeting on Mondays after class at 12:15PM when all staff are available. These meetings usually run about an hour.

Attend and participate in parent board meetings (Usually 1x/month)

ODJFS Licensing Requirements:

Administrator must be named on the child care center license
-
Be responsible for the daily operation of the child care center and for maintaining compliance with Chapter 5104 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 5101:2-12 of the Administrative Code

Cooperate with other government agencies as necessary to maintain compliance with Chapter 5101:2-12 of the Administrative Code
-
Ensure that no administrator, employee, licensee or child care staff member discriminates in the enrollment of children upon the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability or national origin.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Must meet “Administrator Qualifications” as determined by the ODJFS including being 18 years of age, having completed a high school education and at least one of the options A-L listed in the link below
